Being at peace

Do you ever feel the need to wander around ? Do you ever feel like you could go some place which would make you happy ? Do you ever feel like there’s something that you could do that will make you at peace with everything in life ? I think if you’re not at peace with things at your home sitting idle, you won’t be at peace anywhere else.

Visiting some place makes you feel good but the feeling lasts only for a while and then you experience the anxiety or sadness of it being over soon.

Having a delicious meal makes you savor the moment with every bite but then once the meal is over, you’re ready to resent that it got over.

The excitement of going to a movie theatre or a concert is yet another instance where people behave as if it’s going to make their life a success.

Consuming alcohol or marijuana makes people feel like they’re amongst stars.

The whole of human life is a cycle of people getting into such experiences and craving it even more when they’re not.

Awareness is knowing that the things you do and the places you go won’t make a difference that which you expect it to have.

People have bizzare expectations from their actions.

They go to the mountains and then they expect the mountains to make them feel like they’re at peace with themselves.

They go to the beaches and then they expect the beaches to make them feel like they’re at peace with the world.

They drink or consume weed and they expect it to make them feel like they’re at peace with everything.

If you’re not at peace with things at your home doing nothing, you won’t find it anywhere else in the world.

Now you may misunderstand that my thoughts are against people experiencing new places, doing new things and exploring what the world’s got to offer. Well, it’s not. Infact, that’s what gives people the motivation to wake up everyday when they’ve something to look forward to. New experiences make new people. It gets into their identities and makes them a better person.

My point here is about the expectations which people hold from these experiences. That leads to unnecessary sorrow when they don’t experience such things at a place they visited or while doing some activity.

When you don’t have unreasonable expectations from your recreational actions, you enjoy them thoroughly without any resentments or shortcomings which would have been there if you had any.

Conclusion

Life is long and it’s okay for people to be bored of things. In such times, it’s obvious to step out of the normal routine and get some new experiences. It’s just that don’t expect this experience to bring yourself at peace with everything. That acceptance can be inculcated sitting idle at home.
